uTest launches the “What Do uThink?” program

Postby Peter@uTest » Tue Jul 06, 2010 1:35 pm

In uTest’s new weekly series of polls called “What do uThink?” we’ll be asking the community for your preferences and feedback on various topics. Some topics will be more interesting than others; some more polarizing than others. Whatever your thoughts are, please share them in the weekly “What do uThink?” poll.

So vote each week, let your voice be heard! Tell us… what do uThink?

Hello,

Regarding: http://blog.utest.com/whats-the-best-mo ... w/2010/07/

I see that you guys have taken quotes from the user posted on "What Do uThink" poll and i think that was the idea behind that.

But i have noticed that some quotes posted by the users might be copied from other web references.

Like this quote:
Through the development of integrated hardware, software and services that support multiple wireless network standards, RIM provides platforms and solutions for seamless access to time-sensitive information including email, phone, SMS messaging, internet and intranet-based applications. RIM technology also enables a broad array of third party developers and manufacturers to enhance their products and services with wireless connectivity

and this quote:
Windows Mobile actually has a big advantage over Android in one area of multi-tasking, and that is how the OS handles user installed applications. it allows them to be installed to either system memory or on external memory cards. This makes it possible to install an almost unlimited number of apps on a Windows phone.

Just Google those quotes posted by other users. I am notifying this issue as you are taking those quotes and posting it into uTest blog, there might be copyright contents and contents should be unique. But this is not the case here.

Hope you have understand my point of view. Just notifying about the issue.

Regards
Ashik

If uTest is aware of any potential copyright infringement shouldn't uTest either remove or reattribute the comments to the rightful owner, rather than perpetuate the potential copyright issue by continuing to publish those comments as the testers' own then?

We were not aware of this at all, so thank you for bringing it to our attention. This is not professional at all, so these two testers will be warned for not quoting their sources. Additionally, we will need to filter all responses before using them for any blog posts.

Hi Peter.

PeterS@uTest wrote:You can only vote once per poll, but the more polls you vote in, the greater your chances are of winning a prize. Additionally, testers who reply with comments also have greater chance of winning a prize.

So vote each week, let your voice be heard, and maybe win some great prizes in the process! Tell us… what do uThink?

Could you please tell us:
1) If I write comments to the post where voting is finished, e.g. http://forums.utest.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1360 - will it increase my chances to get a month prize?

2) Who will be a winner ? uTester with a large number of responses that have won the vote? Or uTester , which is always give good explanation of his point of view, despite the fact that it can did not coincide with the majority.

Hi Felix - see answers below!

1. Absolutely yes. See comment from the first post: "Additionally, testers who reply with comments also have greater chance of winning a prize."

2. Winners are selected at random; testers who have higher number of replies receive higher weightings for the random drawing. It's highly scientific. ;)
